I’m Dr. Steven Vorholt — a board-certified implant surgeon, national educator, and passionate voice in the world of implant dentistry. My mission is to restore smiles and empower other dental professionals to do the same: with precision, integrity, and confidence.

My Journey

Early Days

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2013 at The Ohio State University.

After dental school, I built a general practice in the Columbus, Ohio area where I leaned into 3D printing, CBCT, and advanced restorative workflows.

Implant Dentistry Education & Focus

In 2019, I shifted my focus to full-time implant dentistry in Scottsdale, AZ, leading education efforts, lecturing, and operating with Implant Pathway.

In 2021, I earned the credential of Diplomate with the American Board of Oral Implantology / Implant Dentistry — a rigorous certification that required hundreds of CE hours specifically in implant therapy.

By 2022, I was invited to become a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID).

Today

In 2023, I joined Shared Practices Group as the Sr. VP of Clinical Affairs and relocated to Santa Barbara, CA, where I opened Santa Barbara Dental Implants, a clinic focused exclusively on advanced implant surgery and full-arch rehabilitation.

Today, I continue to stay deeply involved in education, mentoring, traveling surgery, and podcasting to help lead the conversation in implant dentistry, all while keeping my focus on delivering exceptional implant care to the patients I serve.

My path in dentistry has taken me from general practice to full-scope implant surgery, from mentoring clinicians to speaking on national stages. Every step has shaped how I teach, operate, and support the dentists and patients I serve today.

At Santa Barbara Dental Implants in Santa Barbara, I lead a clinic dedicated to high-impact, patient-centered implant solutions. Our focus is on full-arch rehabilitation, grafting, and fixed prosthetics — using the most advanced tools and protocols to deliver long-term results.

My philosophy

I believe implant dentistry should be clear, confident, and grounded in real experience—not theory. My goal is to make every clinician and every patient feel supported, informed, and empowered.

Outside the Office

When I’m not in the operatory or teaching, I love hiking, traveling, new experiences, and connecting with my family and friends. At home in Santa Barbara, I spend my time surrounded by Legos, train sets, and whatever new track my son is engineering that day!
